ANTHOS’26 Needs Session

Date: 10 March 2026
Time: 09:00-10:00h CET

Chair: Andreas Falk (BNN, NSC Coord. team)

Description:

During the „needs“ sessions of ANTHOS’26 conference the specific requirements of the stakeholder groups (i) initiators, (ii) legislators, (iii) regulators, and (iv) implementors („needs-session“ and 1st round table) are raised.

This part of the conference shall build a basic understanding of different points of view, and the differences in the relevance for them.

  • The initiators are meant to initiate actions, show the way forward, what has to be done and why. Funding bodies e.g., European Commission, Member states are part of this group.
  • The legislators have the role to create guidelines explaining how to do what needs to be regulated; e.g., Testing guidelines, etc. hence, the OECD is a key player in that field.
  • The regulators are monitoring and assessing the compliance with laws and are requesting criteria about methods and tools, that those can be applied to assess. Typically, the ECHA, EFSA, etc. are active here.
  • The implementors are incorporating two elements – providing solutions to the needs of Initiators, Legislators and Regulators (e.g. in the frame of funded projects), as well as translating scientific results into applications/products (e.g., industry).

With this first part of the conference we will set the scene for achieving the goal of the conference: from needs to solutions!

Speakers:

  • Hubert Rauscher (EC JRC), representing the Initiators
  • Mar González (OECD), representing the Legislators
  • Virginia Rodriguez Unamuno (ECHA), representing the Regulators
