Webinar “Effects of multiple nanoparticles on plants and data from in vitro and in situ”

TERI-Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre (TDNBC), India and Deakin University, Australia, in association with the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, is organizing a webinar on the “Effects of multiple nanoparticles on plants and data from in vitro and in situ” on Friday September 23rd , 2022 under the “DBT-TDNBC-DEAKIN-Research Network Across continents for learning and innovation (DTD-RNA)” project.

The DTD-RNA project is dedicated to substantially enhancing research outcomes by promoting effective collaborations amongst researchers from diverse and complementary fields across continents.

In the era of climate change, global agricultural systems face numerous, unprecedented challenges. The excessive use of nitrogen and phosphorous fertilizers led to environmental pollution and severe health issues. Nanotechnology may solve such a type of problem by providing high-performance nanomaterials. Nanomaterials offer a wider specific surface area to fertilizers and pesticides.

One of the most difficult challenges for a researcher is estimating nanomaterials’ performance. Field trials are real-life experiments that directly test whether proposed interventions work, making them powerful tools for gathering evidence for understanding the effect of nanomaterials on a particular plant/ crop.

This Webinar would be a great platform to understand beneficial effects of several nanoparticles on the growth of different plant species and the use of a field trial and gives an overview of how we would typically carry out a trial. We aim to bring together participants from academia, industry and regulatory bodies and brainwave them about the effects of multiple nanoparticles from plants and how field trials help us assess what remedies are likely to be effective.
